Crudo: noun, meaning “raw”. A dish of raw fish or seafood…
Building on the recent success of Laboratorio Pizza at its Fitzrovia and Brick Lane locations, Brick Lane will get another sprinkling of Chef Ivan Simeoli’s magic when his newest restaurant, Crudo, opens. Already it is garnering quite a buzz.
If Laboratorio Pizza brought the Neapolitan art of bread and dough-making to an area of East London traditionally associated with curry houses, Crudo’s aim is to bring authentic, fresh seafood dishes and crafted cocktails to those in the capital seeking something a little more unique.
Located near the Truman Brewery and set in elegant surroundings designed by talented young Italian architect Maria Morra, Crudo is a modern seafood and cocktail restaurant serving exquisite dishes that include Sea Bream Ceviche, Miso Cornish Monkfish and Salted Cornish Cod with seaweed mayo and Sichuan pepper. Small plates of Rock Oysters, Seared Yellowfin Tuna and Tuna Tartare Sea Buns can be enjoyed with hand-crafted cocktails, inspired by the sea, served by an attentive bartender ready to tell you the story behind your drink of choice.
The interior is a modern palate of teal and turquoise with hues of blue and grey offset by oak and rattan and other natural materials and will appeal to those who like a chic but relaxed ambience.

Chef Ivan has travelled the world working alongside the best chefs in the business and was former head chef of Gigi’s and Osteria 60. Born and raised in Naples by the sea, fresh fish and seafood were readily available and a vibrant part of the culinary scene but in London, he couldn’t find any fish of the quality he was looking for in the area. So this talented restaurateur has come up with an ingenious solution. As well as the mouthwatering menu and crafted cocktails served in a stylish setting Crudo will also be a quality fishmongers by day, selling premium fish and seafood sourced both locally and from Cornwall.
But Crudo has another surprise up its sleeve. As the evening draws on, there is a final delicious twist to this amazing venue; a hidden space, a secret door through which diners can enter into a more relaxed and intimate setting. A Speakeasy with a chilled vibe, waiting to be discovered…
